insurance4renewables is a network initiated by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and CarbonRe. The latter, an insurance broker specialising in renewable energy projects, is the appointed broker for access to the unique network comprising the RSA Insurance Group and Munich Re.

CarbonRe facilitates access to the relevant network partner. Together the partners combine:

Our mission

insurance4renewables was created by insurance sector leaders within the framework of a joint initiative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to provide tailored financial risk management instruments for renewable energy projects and support the development of solutions that meet the needs of the markets worldwide, namely in developing countries.

UNEP and the GEF chose to support insurance4renewables as it builds on the expertise and longstanding experience of a network of first-class insurance market leaders. RSA and Munich Re offer a global network with a strong commercial presence in developing countries and a unique expertise acquired with a wide range of technologies and infrastructure projects worldwide to provide covers for the technologies of the future - renewable energy technologies. Insurance solutions are crucial if the young renewable energy industry is to reach its full market potential.
